Then the clouds and the horrible, flesh-colored leaves moved to the light. Still, he waited in the dark, humid forest, its air clinging to his face. He didn’t know whose land he was about to upon, but trespassing did not concern him. It would take cleverness to his pursuers. Had he managed to his tracks, or did some small trace of them remain? If only he could find the ship! Suddenly, there was a shuffling in the tall, stinging grass, and he whirled, weapon ready, only to see a tiny animal peeking out at him…
